Susan Lea Day received her heavenly reward on Sunday, August 7, 2022, at Jackson-Madison County General, at the age of 68.
She was born in Jackson, TN on July 5, 1954, the daughter of Ernestine Stegall Day and the late John Richard Day, Sr. She was a member of Poplar Height Baptist Church of Jackson. She spent her working career as a retail manager for various companies in the Jackson area.
Susan, who was quick-witted with a great sense of humor, was very loyal and supportive to her family and friends. She enjoyed gardening, cooking for her family, painting in both watercolor and acrylic paints, and loving on her fur baby Angel. She also enjoyed crafting, especially needlework. Susan was a strong person that never lost her faith and despite numerous health challenges over recent years was a fighter to the very end.
She is survived by her mother, Ernestine Stegall Day of Jackson, TN; two sisters, Traci Day Wallis and husband Harold (Butch) of College Grove, TN; Amy Day Smith and husband Lane of Benton, AR; her brother, Robert Engels Day and wife Margaret of Lexington, TN; and numerous nieces and nephews, David Day Dettelbach and wife Kristen of Collierville, TN, Dorothy Wallis and husband Gordon Ray of Logan, UT, Nate Smith and wife Laura Beth of Little Rock, AR, Laura Beth Dixon and husband Jonathan of Benton, AR, J Richard Day III and wife Lindsay of Fort Knox, KY, Rachael Day Delarosa and husband David of Murfreesboro, TN and Robert E. Day, Jr., Jessica Day, Shelby Day and Ashley Day and all of Lexington, TN, and a sister-in-law, Diane Day of Memphis, TN
Other than her father, Susan was preceded in death by a brother, John Richard Day.
SERVICES: The family will be holding a private graveside service. There will be no visitation.
Pallbearers will be Harold (Butch) Wallis, Lane H. Smith, David Day Dettelbach, John Richard Day III, Robert Engels Day, Jr., and Nathan Lane Smith.
