Shirley Pirtle Crick

July 27, 1947 — May 29, 2021

Shirley M. Pirtle Crick, 73, died Saturday, May 29, 2021, after a brief illness. She was born in Bolivar, TN to the parents of Claude Sherrell Pirtle and Mary Sue Rogers. After 27 years of service, she retired in 2015 as an accountant for the City of Jackson. Shirley was an accountant for Lambuth College for 22 years prior to working for the City of Jackson. She was beloved by her many city employee friends as well as her Lambuth staff, faculty, and students.

Shirley loved her family; her Schnauzer fur babies that she cared for over the years; traveling, especially to Panama City Beach; her favorite TV show, NCIS; and the Christmas holiday season.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband and soulmate, Hugh Rainey Crick, Jr. “Buddy”. She is survived by her sisters, Jo Ann Hall (Ronnie) of Caddo, OK and Leann Mumbower (James) of Warner Robins, GA; her brothers, Sammy Pirtle (Autumn) of Jackson, TN and Mike Rogers (Mary Jane) of Jackson, TN; her nieces, Jolene Lindsey (Jason) of Frisco, TX, Heather Johnson (Josh) of Warner Robins, GA, and Susan Bunkley (James) of Memphis, TN; her nephews, Chris Rogers (Mary) of Warner Robins, GA and Jason Francis of Sherman, TX; her step-daughter Andrea Huckaba (Tony) of St. Louis, MO; her sister-in-law Beverley Kay Crick of Jackson, TN; and 10 great-nieces and great-nephews.

SERVICES: The family will be receiving friends on Saturday, June 5, 2021, from 4:00 PM until 5:30 PM with a Memorial Service at 5:30 at Arrington Funeral Directors.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the City of Jackson Animal Care Center ( https://jacksontn.gov/government/departments/animalservices/animal_care_center/donations ) or your local Humane Society.
