James D. WilliamsA funeral mass for Sergeant Major (Retired) James D. Williams, 62, will be held 10:30 am Saturday, February 12, 2011 at St. Mary?s Catholic Church with Monsignor Thomas Kirk officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery with full military honors.Jim, a native of Glasgow, KY, was the son of the late John and Velma Spann Williams and enlisted in the United States Army in 1965. He proudly served in combat in the Vietnam War, and during his 22 year career he was a highly decorated soldier. Jim retired as a Sergeant Major in 1987. After his retirement, he was successful in establishing the first vocational school for Professional truck drivers in Madison County (DRIVE-TRAIN).Jim is survived by his wife Lynn and his children, Natalie Williams, Tonette Garris and husband George, Jimmy Williams and wife Gail and Grandchildren, Brittany, George Jr., Devon, Melissa and Allison. He is also survived by his brothers, Douglas, Steven, Phillip and sister Jeri Marsh and husband Tom. Jim loved and dedicated his life to God, Country and Family.The family is requesting in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be directed to St. Mary?s Catholic Church or School, 1665 Highway 45 Bypass, Jackson, TN 38305 or to Hospice of West Tennessee, 1804 Highway 45 Bypass, Jackson, TN 38305.The family will be receiving friends on Saturday, February 12, 2011 from 9:30 am until 10:30 am at St. Mary?s Catholic Church.Arrington Funeral Directors148 W.
