Sara Lucille (Lucy) Butler

Lucy Butler, 65, died Thursday evening April 24, 2014 at her residence.
She was born October 18, 1948 in Chester County, TN the daughter of the late Marcus and Dora Frances Rowland Hurst. Lucy was a longtime (38 years) cosmetologist, a member of the First United Methodist Church where she served as Head of the Alter Guild until her illness. She enjoyed her flowers, making arrangements and wreathes for family and friends. Lucy had a special heart for helping others, she mentored and sponsored many young girls through AA and the Dream Center. She was a behind the scenes supporter and helper to those that needed help.
She is survived by her husband Chancellor James F. Butler of Jackson, TN, two daughters, Priscilla Ann McNeal of Cordova, TN, Sara Elkins Taylor and husband Henry of Cordova, TN, step-daughter, Lara Elizabeth Butler-Breen and husband Daniel and their son James Daniel Breen of Memphis, TN; three sisters, Jan Daenen of Houston, TX, Jean Schmidt of East Bernard, TX and Helen Rushing of columbus, MS and three brothers, Andrew Hurst of Ashland City, TN, Alfred Hurst of Jackson, TN andDonnie Hurst of Memphis, TN. She was preceded in death by one brother Gene Alan Hurst and one sister Doris Phillips.
The family is requesting that in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be directed to The Dream Center, 49 Old Hickory Cove, Jackson, TN, 38305 or First United Methodist Church, 200 S. Church St, Jackson, TN, 38301.
SERVICES: Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, April 27, 2014 in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors with Rev. Dan Camp and Rev David Hollis officiating. Burial will follow at Ridgecrest Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends on Saturday, April 26, 2014 from 4:00PM until 7:00PM at the funeral home.
Those serving as pallbearers are J. Daniel Breen, James D. Todd, James L. Exum, Daniel Breen, Donnie Hurst, Alfred Hurst, Andrew Hurst and Mitch Goodwin.
The family extends sincere love and appreciation for the tender love, care and devotion extended to Lucy from Judy Garrard and Joy Murdaugh.
