Ruth Elizabeth Jennings HortonMemorial services for Ruth Elizabeth Jennings Horton, age 97, will be held on Saturday, June 4th at 2:00 PM at Grace United Methodist Church in Humboldt, TN. Burial will be in Greenleaf United Methodist Church Cemetery near Coldwater, MS. Mrs. Horton passed away Saturday, may 7th at J.M.C. General Hospital.Ruth was born near Coldwater, MS on April 6, 1914. She was the sixth of eight children of the late Phil A. Jennings and the late Bessie Stevens Jennings. Ruth was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse, starting her career at St. Mary?s Hospital and retiring from Cedar Crest Hospital in Humboldt. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir until well into her 90?s.She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis C. Horton, Sr., her parents, three brothers, Julius, Claude, and Phil Allen Jennings and four sisters, Jessie Curry, Amy Jennings, Mary Massey and Nellie Baker.Mrs. Horton is survived by a son, Lewis Craig Horton, Jr. and his wife Diane, a daughter, Janice Ruth Jones and husband Glenn, all of Jackson. She also leaves three grandchildren, Steven Horton, Amy Garner and Sacha Johnson and three great grandchildren, Blake McCall, Grace Johnson and Elijah Johnson.The family request that any memorials be made to Grace United Methodist Church of Humboldt, TN.The family wishes to give grateful thanks and appreciation to Ruth?s special friends Bob and Gale Edwards for their devoted attention to Ruth and to the staff of Maplewood Health Care in Jackson, TN for their loving care in Ruth?s last months.Arrington Funeral Directors148 W.
