Funeral services for Russell Lee Brandon, 83, will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, January 6, 2012 in the Sanctuary of Forest Heights United Methodist Church, with Rev. John Middleton officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens. Mr. Brandon died on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at the Jackson Madison County General Hospital.Russell was born on January 7, 1928 in Bemis, TN, the son of Emma and Basil Brandon. He was educated in the Bemis School System, attended Union University and West TN Business College. He spent two ? 2 year terms in the United States Navy. During his second term, he was a member of the Navy team stationed on the Cambridge Aircraft Carrier that participated in the testing of the Atomic Bomb. In 1955, he began his career with South Central Bell where he spent 27 years until his retirement in 1982. He was a longtime member of Forest Heights United Methodist Church.He is survived by his wife, Helen; daughter, Regina Swartwood and husband Doc; brother, Billy Joe and wife Delores; sister-in-law, Dorothy Helton and husband W.L.; nephews, Terry Joe and Jacob, Jon and wife Liz; nieces, Dianna Woodburn, Vicki Rose and husband Bob, Amanda Lott, Olivia Flowers and Chloe Lott.He was preceded in death by his parents.The family request that memorial contributions be directed to Forest Heights United Methodist Church, 863 W. Forest Ave., Jackson, TN 38301.The family will be receiving friends on Thursday, January 5, 2012 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Arrington Funeral Directors.Arrington Funeral Directors, 148 W.
