Robert Glenn "Bob" Shuttleworth

Bob Shuttleworth, 73, died on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at the Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
Bob was born in Morton, MS on January 24, 1940, the son of the late Claude R. and Eula Mae Craig Shuttleworth. He graduated from Millsaps College with a Bachelor’s degree in voice and received his Master’s degree in communication/education from Mississippi College. Bob was an accomplished musician in the areas of voice, trumpet, guitar and choir, as well as a teacher and photographer. He served as a minister of Music and Youth for twenty-five years in churches in Raymond and Morton, MS. He later served as a professor at Union University for seven years. He was a member of various singing groups including the Coachmen in high school and college and later the Brandywine Singers, the Coventry Singers and the OK Chorale. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Jackson.
He is survived by his wife of over 49 years, Lynne Rowe Shuttleworth of Jackson, TN; three sons, Stephen G. Shuttleworth of Olive Branch, MS; Scott W. Shuttleworth of Columbus, MS and Stanton C. Shuttleworth of Ramstein, Germany; a daughter, Susan Lynne Lowrance of Bethel Springs, TN; a brother, Claude L. Shuttleworth of Jackson, MS; a sister, Suzanne S. Coats of Forest, MS and eight grandchildren, Cole Lowrance, Cathryn Lowrance, Morgan Shuttleworth, Zack Shuttleworth, Sarah Shuttleworth, Sophia Shuttleworth, Ben Shuttleworth and Nathan Shuttleworth.
Services: A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 27, 2013 in the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church with Rev. Dan Camp and Rev. Cecil Kirk officiating. The family will be receiving friends on Monday, August 26, 2013 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Arrington Funeral Directors and on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 from 10:00 AM until service time in Hope Hall at First United Methodist Church.
Honorary pallbearers will be member of the Coachmen; Jimmy Underwood, Rhett Mitchell, Dr. Mart McMullan, Stephen Meisburg, the OK Chorale; Dennis Bumgarner, Dr. Ken Warren, Larry Smith, Cecil Cravens and John LeCroy and friends; John Mays, Greg Milam, Dr. Carl Moran, Hunter Partee, Dickie Welch and Clyde Morgan.
Memorials are requested to be directed to First United Methodist Church, 200 S. Church Street, Jackson, TN 38301 designated for Lakeshore Camp or Andrew’s Chapel UMC.
