Phillip W. “Gran” McCoy, 70 died on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at his residence. Phillip was born in Crockett, Co. on February 6, 1942, the son of the late James Owen and Marie Campbell McCoy. He served in the Tennessee National Guard being Honorably Discharged with the rank of staff Sgt. He was employed as the Operations Manager for the Old Hickory Mall retiring in 1986. He was a member of Gregory’s Chapel Church, where he taught Royal Rangers for twenty-five years. He was an avid outdoorsman and gun enthusiast and was proud of his membership in the Tennessee Sports Foundation. He enjoyed working with wood and gardening. His grandchildren were the apple of his eye and he loved them dearly.
He is survived by his wife of forty-six years, Ramona Garner McCoy of Jackson, TN; a daughter Shelley McCoy Taylor and husband David of Toone, TN; sons, Timothy McCoy of Jackson, TN and Jared Garner McCoy and wife Leah of Humboldt, TN; four grandchildren, Ben Taylor, Dylan DeWald, Emma DeWald and Nate Campbell McCoy and three special nieces, Carla, Cindy and Kerry.
Pallbearers will be Gary Williams, Jeff Cantrell, Rob Ellis, Sam Kirk, Mitch Goodwin and George Scarbrough.
The family is requesting memorial contributions be directed to the Tennessee District Royal Rangers, 383 East Main Street, Suite 110, Hendersonville, TN 37075.

Services: Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Gregory’s Chapel Church with Rev. Bill McCoy officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens. The family will be receiving friends on Friday, January 25, 2013 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Gregory’s Chapel Church.
