Michael Anthony Smith

Michael A. Smith, age 64, died Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital after a period of extended illness.
He was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on June 20, 1956, the son of Betty Joe Glidewell Smith and the late Rev. Bill H. Smith. In his younger years he enjoyed duck hunting and being a guide on Reelfoot Lake. He loved golfing, fishing, and martial arts obtaining a black belt in taekwondo. His working career started with Kroger Foods in Murray, KY, working his way up to a Produce Manager and later working in various positions with Jackson Christian School, Reeds Jewelers, Goldsmith’s and Service Merchandise. He had been active in the Lion’s Club of Humboldt and the Old Hickory Lion’s Club Sight Van screening children for glasses. He was Church of Christ in his faith.
Michael is survived by his wife of forty-years, Laurie Tucker Smith of Jackson, TN; his son, Koie L. Smith and his wife Jennifer of Marietta, GA; a sister, Shauna Adams and husband Jeff of Paris, TN; his father-in-law, Douglas Tucker; sister-in-law, Sabrina Karraker and husband Ray and brother-in-law, Dr. Charles Tucker and his wife Marsha Roberts Tucker all of Murray, KY a grandchild, Kaia Jones, three nephews, Barkley Tucker, Matt Adams and wife Candice and Chris Adams and wife Sarah.
He was preceded in death by his grandchild, Zoey Smith and mother-in-law Mary Evelyn Tucker.
SERVICES: The family will be receiving friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Friday, June 18, 2021, in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors. A Graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, June 19, 2021, at Tucker Cemetery near Murray, KY.
The family is requesting that memorial contributions be directed to the American Diabetes Association, 2451 Crystal Drive, Suite 900, Arlington, VA 22202 or Tucker Cemetery Fund, C/O Sabrina Karraker, 1014 Crossland Road, Murray, KY 42071, or the Lion’s Club Therapy Dog.
