Maurice Eugene Essary

November 1, 1928 — June 26, 2021

Maurice Eugene Essary, age 92, died Saturday, June 26, 2021 at Maplewood Healthcare after a brief illness. He was born in Henderson County, TN, the oldest son of Roosevelt and Cordie Haggard Essary. He graduated in 1947 from Lexington High School, then served two years in the Army on Mayaguana during the Korean War. In 1953, he returned from service, and met Bobbie Brown Essary, his wife of 67 years on a blind date. He spoke fondly of that date, and how he fell in love with her. He retired from Coca Cola of Jackson after 30 years, and worked for Refreshment of Tennessee for a number of years. Mr. Essary enjoyed gardening, hunting, reading his Bible, and serving through Friday prayer meetings with his Sunday School class at West Jackson Baptist Church, volunteering at VBS, and calling and praying for homebound church members on their birthdays. He loved his family, and cherished his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Above everything else Maurice loved his Savior, Jesus, and reflected that love and devotion in his daily life. His desire was for everyone to have a saving relationship with Him. He was a fierce prayer warrior for his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Bobbie Brown Essary of Jackson, TN; one son, Terry (Mindy) Essary of Jackson, TN; one daughter, Susan (Phil) Brooks of Murfreesboro, TN; one sister, Bettie Jo Essary Boyd of Parsons, TN; 5 grandchildren: Alison (Eric) Connor, Sarah (Scott) Essary Howard, Philip Brooks, Samuel (Lucy) Essary, and Krista Brooks; and 2 great grandchildren: Jameson Connor and Meredith Connor.

Memorial Contributions may be made to RIFA of Jackson, or Birth Choice of Jackson.
