Mattie Belle Ray

March 29, 1934 — December 10, 2018

Mattie Belle Ray, 84, of Pinson TN went home to be with her Lord and Savior on December 10th, 2018.

Visitation will be December 13th from 11:00am-1:30pm at Arrington Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 2:00pm, officiated by Nick Pappas. Burial will be at Quincy Cemetery in Alamo, TN at 3:30pm.

Mattie Belle was born in Steele, MO on March 29, 1934 to Carlos and Morena Johns. She had 15 brothers and sisters. She graduated from Maury City High School in 1952. One day later she married the love of her life, Bobby Guy Ray. They had two daughters, Patsy Ruth and Sharon Marie. For many years she worked alongside her husband until his death in 1998. At that time, she went to work at Youth Town of TN, where she remained employed as a Bible Teacher until her passing. She loved to brag on her Youth Town “boys” and would tell everyone that she worked with them. Mattie Belle was a member of Love and Truth South Campus where she was on the prayer team. She loved the Lord above all else and looked forward to praying with others and sharing the love of Jesus.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, and multiple brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her family that she deeply adored. Daughters Patsy Whitmore (Clyde) and Sharon Robinson (Mark). Nine grandchildren Donny Davis (Tracy), Heather Parker (Howard), Jennifer Potts, Misty Lee (Andrew), Bobbie Blair (Dwayne), Davida Ray-Bechtel, Frank Whitmore (Crystal), Robert Whitmore (Jessica), Patrick Whitmore (Nikki). Twenty-Two Great Grandchildren Noah, Kate, William, Wyatt, Dylan, Nancy, Phillip, Dakota, Gavin, Hayden, Brayden, Avery, Cooper, Tyler, Emily, Summer, Bo, Lewis, Augustus, Evie, Eli, and Wulfric. Four brothers and sisters O’Neal Johns, Lee Johns (Nancy), Lorena Needham, Pat Hannah (Craig). And a spiritual daughter Jennifer Churchill (Daniel).

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made in her honor to Youth Town of TN.
