Mary M. Buck, age 93, died peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Henderson County, TN on August 8, 1928, the daughter of the late Johnny Roy and Carrie Isabell Fowler Thomas. Mary was an avid outdoor person who enjoyed caring for and watching her hummingbirds. She worked hard to produce beautiful flower and vegetable gardens. She cared tenderly for her family by canning vegetables and providing many delicious meals for family and friends, making sure everyone had their favorite food. She was an accomplished piano player, who learned to play by ear, never taking a lesson. She and her husband were members of Beech Bluff Baptist Church.
Mary is survived by her husband of seventy-one years, Charles Ghelen Buck of Beech Bluff, TN; daughters, Rita Amis and husband Tommy of Lexington, TN, Shelia Hillis of Jackson, TN and Sherry Sorrell and husband Kelly of Jackson, TN; a brother, Billy Thomas, and his wife Martha of Beech Bluff; two sisters, Margaret Evans and Cornelia Hall; and two grandchildren, Tim Amis and Johnathan Sorrell.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, J. F. Thomas and O’Neal Thomas and his wife Betty; grandchild, Christy Amis; and a son-in-law, John Hillis, and brothers-in-law, Leroy Evans and Conan Hall.
SERVICES: A funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at 1:00 PM, in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors with Dr. Charles Crouthers and Rev. Robert Dodrell officiating. Burial will follow in the Maple Springs Cemetery in Beech Bluff.
The family will be receiving friends on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM prior to the service.
Pallbearers to serve will be Steve Thomas, Larry Evans, Scottie Daniels, Tim Amis, Johnathan Sorrell and Jackie Attaway.
The Sunshine Sunday school class of Beech Bluff Baptist Church is requested to sit together as a group for the service.
The family is requesting any memorial contributions be directed to Gideons International, 30 Sutton Place, Jackson, TN 38305.
