Funeral services for Lloyd Paul Atherton, 73, will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, February 3, 2012 in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors, with Bill Lovelace and Adam Pogue, Ministers officiating and Duane Steinly, director of songs. Burial will follow in Parkway Memorial Gardens. Mr. Atherton died on Tuesday, January 31, 2012.A native of Belvidere, IL, Lloyd was born on September 10, 1938, the son of the late John Paul and Mildred Atherton. He was a veteran of the United States Navy from 1958 through 1962 serving as a pilot. He was a retired minister serving churches in Corinth, MS, Haynesville, LA, Plano, IL and retiring in Piggott, AR. He was very active in the communities he served with the Lions Clubs and as a Volunteer Fireman. He was also a certified Public Accountant. After he moved to Jackson, he and Juanita were active members of the Broadview Church of Christ.He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Juanita Inman Atherton of Jackson, TN; a daughter Kelly Atherton Sheffield and husband Danny of Jackson TN and a son Paul Scott Atherton and wife Donna of Winston Salem NC. He is survived by four grandchildren; Brandon Sheffield and wife Martha of Nashville TN, Taylor Sheffield Beal and husband Blake of Jackson TN, Paige Elizabeth Sheffield of Jackson TN, and Mason Scott Atherton of Rock Hill SC. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren Audra Grace Sheffield and Knox Ray Sheffield; a brother, Gene Atherton of Elgin, IL and a sister, Sandra Atherton of Colorado.Pallbearers to serve will be Danny Sheffield, Brandon Sheffield, Brent Holt, Jeff Cisco, Shane Cisco and Roger Keltner.Jim Miller will serve as an honorary pallbearer.The family is requesting that memorial contributions be directed to a local Kidney Dialysis facility of the donor?s choice.The family will be receiving friends on Thursday, February 2, 2012 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Arrington Funeral Directors.Arrington Funeral Directors, 148 W.
