John Reid Shires

John Reid Shires passed away Monday, June 27, 2022, at his home at the age of 80.
John was born in Jackson, TN on May 9, 1942, to the late Ruth Archer Shires and William Monroe Shires. He worked many years as a probation officer for the state of TN and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. He loved doing yard work, traveling, and taking trips to Goodwill. John was a sports fan, with the St. Louis Cardinals and the UT Vols being his favorite teams.
Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved son, Michael Shires.
He is survived by his loving wife, Debbie Allen Shires; two sons, Dr. Jay Shires and wife Brandi and Ben Shires; daughters, Sara Beth Newsom and husband Patrick and Mary Kate Allen and fiancé Bob Eckhardt; brother, David Shires, and wife Niki; sisters, Harriet Presson and Martha Alewine and husband Mike; his mother-in-law, Charlene Walker and four grandchildren, Matthew Newsom, Elizabeth Newsom, Lila Shires, and Chloe Jarvis.
