John Allen Green, Md

May 17, 1933 — March 28, 2022

Dr. John Allen Green, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend departed from this life to enter his heavenly home on Monday, March 28, 2022, at the age of eighty-eight, in the company of his adoring wife.

He was born the son of the late Welch Butler and Janie Louvenia (Scott) Green, on Wednesday, May 17, 1933, in Mobile, Alabama. Other than his parents he is preceded in death by sister, Alta May, and brother, Welch Butler Green, Jr.

A very enthusiastic man with a great love for many things, John was a graduate of Louisiana College and LSU Medical School. He was a brilliant man who retired in 2009 after 40 years as a radiologist. After moving to Jackson, TN in 1974, John began his journey in the ‘ride circuit’ as a radiologist at Gibson General Hospital in Trenton, TN and Henderson County Community Hospital in Lexington, TN where he was able to use his talents and his love for the Lord to build relationships and help each community.

John had a personality that was bigger than life and is known for being the best storyteller. To be in his presence for the recollection of events would keep you engrossed with the expansion of one story leading to another. He had an honorable Godly influence on many people. He was a man who loved his family, his church and was a humble giving man whose giving was oftentimes to a fault. Everything John did was with great dedication and commitment. He was sincere and his emotions were big… whether happy, or sad, his tears were ever present and meaningful. His laughter could fill the room and his kindness made everyone feel drawn to him and their own abilities to serve others. John was able to, through his humble and approachable nature, lead others to Christ and a happy life.

John met the love of his life, Brenda Joyce Branch, while she was a student nurse and he an intern in Nashville. The events that lead to their adoring one another began with a simple encounter that displayed John’s love for lemons and interest in Brenda. As their friendship grew, they based their life together with the purpose of serving the Lord as the sole foundation. In 1963, John and Brenda united in marriage and completed their family unit with the addition of three children.

John was a faithful member of Woodland Baptist Church for many years where he served; although not limited to, in the capacity of Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. He loved his church family where he served and attended without fail until his health prevented otherwise.

John will be tremendously missed and never forgotten by his devoted wife, Brenda Joyce Green of Jackson, TN; son, Kevin A. Green, Sr. and wife, Sally of Murfreesboro, TN; daughters, Dana Witterman and husband, Howard of Glenville, PA and Lisa Brantley and husband, Wayne of Savannah, GA; 8 grandchildren, Brandon Witterman, Logan Witterman, Ashton Brantley, Reilly Green, Lindsey Witterman, Bryant Brantley, Sarah Fisher-Green, and Allen Green; He is also survived by several nieces and nephews as well as many friends and neighbors who mourn his passing.

A Celebration of Life will be on Friday, April 1, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. at Arrington Funeral Directors with Rev. Len Kennedy and Rev. Stacey McCallum officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
