Jimmy Ward, 87, died Thursday morning August 10, 2017 at Regency Retirement Village in Jackson, TN.
He was born February 17, 1930 in Dyersburg, TN the son of the late Allen Buford Ward and Ruth White Ward. He was a very proud Clemson graduate where he excelled in football. Jimmy is a member of the Jackson Madison County Sports Hall of Fame, he served his country in the U.S. Army. He worked at The Bemis Cotton Company and served as Executive Vice President of Murray Guard. He was a lifelong member (1930’s) of First United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his son James Allen Ward, Jr, and wife Betty of Oneonta, AL, his brother Jerry Ward and wife Mona of Jackson, TN and one grandchild Anna Daniel and husband Chase. He was preceded in death by his wife Elaine in May 2017.
SERVICES: Graveside services will be held Monday, August 14, 2017 at 1:00PM at Hollywood Cemetery with Rev. Sky McCracken officiating. Those serving as pallbearers will be Roger Murray, Billy Clemmons, Dr. Kippy Miller, Buster Ferguson, Waring Hazlehurst and Harold Johnson.
The family has requested memorial contributions be directed First United Methodist Church, 200 S. Church St., Jackson, TN 38301.
