Jesse B. Jones

Jesse B. Jones of Jackson, formerly of Union City, passed away Saturday, July 3, 2021 at his home.
SERVICES: Funeral services will be held at the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Jackson at 2pm on Thursday July 8. Visitation will begin at 1 pm with funeral services following at 2. Arrington Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Jones was born on December 30, 1933, to the late Claude D. Jones and Susie Alberta Tanner Jones. He attended Hornbeak school before joining the Navy, where he served for 4 years. Mr. Jones was a Korean War veteran and a member of the American Legion of Jackson.
On May 7, 1955, he married Norma Harrison, and she survives. Mr. and Mrs. Jones recently celebrated 66 years of marriage.
Jesse was a former resident of Union City. He was the Director of Radiology at the former Obion County General Hospital, where he was employed from 1959 until 1979. He was later the Technical Director of Radiology at Jackson Madison County General Hospital until his retirement in 1993. Mr. Jones was the active president of the Tennessee State Society of Radiologic Technologists.
Mr. Jones was a faithful member of the Cumberland Presbyterian church while a resident of Union City, and later at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Jackson where he served in many different capacities.
He is survived by one son, Danny Jones of Jackson, and two daughters, Judy Miller of Memphis, and Connie Vaughn of Troy. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren: Erich (Jennifer) Miller of Memphis, Courtney (Johnny) Gantt of Hornbeak, Emily Mulbay of Memphis, Ashleigh (Josh) Roberson of Union City, and Ethan (Kaitlynn) Vaughn of Troy and 9 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law Bob Miller, and his sister Nan Shoffner.
The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 1730 US-45 By-Pass, Jackson, TN 38305 or the charity of their choice.
