Ida Mae Horton

Ida Mae Horton, age 90, died on Monday, October 17, 2016 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Jackson-Madison County on January 23, 1926 the daughter of the late Will P. and Annie Mae Crawford Stovall. She was preceded in death by her husband William O. Horton in 2012. She spent her life helping others and was dedicated to her God, her family and her church. She spent fifty years taking care of babies at Englewood Baptist Church. She owned and operated Horton Day Care Center for almost five decades. She was an accomplished seamstress and quilter. Her legacy is one of selfless love and devotion.
She is survived by her children, Ola Mallard and husband Ken; William E. Horton and wife Linda and Mary Adams and husband James; six grandchildren Ron Heidelberg and wife Teresa, Don Heidelberg and wife Nikki, William Gilliam and wife Angie, Lisa Horton, Jimmy Horton and wife Tina and Kacey Adams and sixteen great grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Frank Stovall, Clarence Stovall, Leroy Stovall and Clyde Stovall; her sisters, Mary Sue Simmons and Elizabeth Horton and a grandson, Jerry Gilliam.
SERVICES: A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday, October 20, 2016 in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors with Dr. Philip Jett and Dr. Brent Lay officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens. The family will be receiving friends on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Arrington Funeral Directors.
Pallbearers will be grandsons; Don Heidelberg, Ron Heidelberg, William Gilliam, Jimmy Horton, Alex Horton and Howard Welch.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kacey Adams, Lisa Horton and Tyler Horton.
The family is requesting that memorial contributions be directed to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, Englewood Baptist Church c/o Nursery Ministry or to Breast Cancer Awareness.
