Horace Andrew TharpFuneral services for Horace Tharp, 81, will be held Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at 2:00PM from the Lighthouse United Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Donald Lance, Rev. Ronald Brown and Rev. Wayne Chester officiating. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum of Highland Memorial Gardens.Mr. Tharp died Saturday evening, May 22, 2010 at his residence.He was born February 26, 1929 in Fruitland, TN the son of the late Samuel Evans Tharp and Lillian Lee Witherspoon Tharp. He was a retired grocery store owner and member of Lighthouse Pentecostal Church. He served as a Corporal in the Army during the Korean Conflict. The greatest loves of his life were his family and his church.Mr. Tharp is survived by his wife, Kathleen Tharp, two daughters Deborah Anderson and husband Danny, Stephenia Dorris and husband Ronnie, one brother Harold Tharp, three sisters, Mary Jackson, Grace Holland, Florine Tidwell, two grandchildren Jeremy Anderson, Brandon Dorris and wife Kristy and one great grandchild Tyler Dorris.Those serving as pallbearers will be John Jones, Marvin Epperson, Joe Patterson, Dave Engler, Norman Reid, Jeremy Anderson, Sonny Thompson and Don Harris.Honorary pallbearers will be Rev. James Tharp, Willis Reasons, Billy Williams, Charles Conder, Gary Graves, Charles Hampton, Don Presson, Tillman Weir, Warren Herndon, J. C. Durbin, Bob DePriest, Rev. Billy Fielding, Stanley Holland, Betsy Autry, Tina Stephen, Sherry Patterson, Benny Boals and Ray Hopkins.The family has requested memorial donations be directed to the Building Fund of Lighthouse Pentecostal Church, 1435 Old Humboldt Rd., Jackson, TN 38305.The family will be receiving friends on Monday, May 24, 2010 from 4:00PM until 6:00PM at Arrington Funeral Directors and on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 one hour prior to the service at the church.
