Harold Franklin Jackson

Harold F. Jackson died on November 14, 2016 at the age of 89. He was born in 1927 to J.D. and Ora Lee Jackson in Gibson County, Tennessee. Harold is survived by Jean Jackson, his wife of 65 years. Other surviving family are daughters, Debra Wright (Craig) of Memphis, TN and Karen Toney (Bill) of Cleveland, NC; son, Steven Jackson (Karla), a Southern Baptist missionary in Maputo, Mozambique; and six grandchildren, Chris Wright, Matt Toney and Christa Abbey, Bethany and Jared Jackson. Harold is also survived by two of his eight siblings, James Lee Jackson (Shirley) and Nell Breeden of Trenton, TN.
Harold was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy, U. S. Naval Reserves and also the United States Air Force for 26 years. After his military retirement, Harold worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 19 years.
Harold and Jean were blessed with many wonderful years of retirement, traveling throughout all 50 states, several Canadian provinces and other countries. They traveled in their RV as members of the Good Sam’s Club, making many new friends.
Harold will be remembered for his love of God, Country, family, and friends. He was a longtime and active member of Englewood Baptist Church. The family will be receiving friends in the chapel of Englewood Baptist Church from 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 19, 2016 prior to the funeral service at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens with military honors.
Pallbearers will be Ken Beacham, Jacky Campbell, Onus King, Jack Taylor, Mark White and Ed Williams.
Honorary pallbearer will be Olive Crenshaw.
The family requests that memorials be directed to Englewood Baptist Church for a special Lottie Moon Christmas offering for foreign missions.
