Harold Leroy Broyles

January 23, 1932 — August 20, 2018

Mr. Harold Leroy Broyles, age 86 of Jackson, passed away Monday, August 20, 2018 at home surrounded by his family.

Celebration of Life Service will be held at Arrington Funeral Directors in Jackson on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at 2:00 pm. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until the service. Interment with military honors will follow at Ridgecrest Cemetery.

Mr. Broyles was born January 23, 1932 in White County to the late Mark & Irene Rascoe Broyles.
He was one of nine children and was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Rascoe Broyles, Dale Lowery, Lois Elese Broyles, Charles Broyles, Joe Broyles and Ed Broyles. He is survived by his brother, Lenard Broyles and sister, Mary Ann (Paul) Brock.

Mr. Broyles is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Shelby Jean Tines Broyles. They were blessed with two children, Mitzi Leigh Hinton and Philip Alan (Melinda) Broyles. Four grandchildren, David Blain (Tori) Broyles, Ada Katherine Broyles, Lyda Grace Hinton and Jonathan Philip Broyles. Three great-grandchildren, Carter Mason Broyles, Ada McKay Kemker and Cash Greyson Broyles. And a host of brothers and sisters-in-law, as well as 17 nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.

After serving in the U.S. Army, Mr. Broyles graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy in 1958. He met his sweetheart at church in Memphis. They married on July 25, 1958 and moved to Jackson to work for Jackson General Hospital. He was a practicing pharmacist for over 25 years, including serving as the Assistant Chief Pharmacist.

Mr. and Mrs. Broyles were among the charter members of the Skyline Church of Christ and have worshipped there since 1959. He served as a deacon for many years.

Philip Alan Broyles, David Blain Broyles, Jonathan Philip Broyles, Mike Broyles, David Harlan Broyles, Jerry Broyles, Jamie Towater and Will Padgett will serve as pallbearers.
