Glenwood (Glen) L. Weatherly, age 67, of Jackson, TN passed away quietly at homesurrounded by his family on February 27, 2011 after a long battle with cancer.Glen was born January 4, 1944 in New Bern, N.C. He is survived by his wife, LyndaCockrell Weatherly of 20 years. He was preceded in death by his parents Irvin G.Weatherly and Marie Lewis Weatherly and grandparents Jordan and Boquet Weatherly and David and Jane Lewis. Survivors include a brother Michael Weatherly(Nancey) of New Bern, N.C.; a sister Betty Blythe (Richard) of New Bern, N.C. ; ason, John Weatherly (Moura) of Nashville, TN; a son Joseph Weatherly (Rachel) of FallChurch, VA; step-son Vic Coffman (Abby) of Bentonia, MS; step-daughter GloriaBrien (Buddy) of Milan, TN. Glen enjoyed spending time with his grandchildrenWhitten Gray, son of Vic and Abby Coffman; Kayla Brien, daughter of Gloria andBuddy Brien; Dominic Weatherly, son of John and Moura Weatherly.Pallbearers for Mr. Weatherly are Mr. Dart Hemrick, Mr. Charlie Carroll, Mr. RoyceMagee, Mr. John Perkins, Mr. Jack Mallard, Mr. Glenn Penney, Mr. Dan Pate, and Mr.Winston Truett.Glen was an active member of North Side United Methodist Church in Jackson,TN in the Shalom Sunday School Class. He was a devout Christian and his love forGod sustained him during his illness. During his life, Glen served as a Mason. Hewas adjunct faculty at Lambuth University teaching photography for 18 years andworked as an Industrial Engineer during his professional career. He was a 1971 North Carolina State University graduate and a member of the Wolfpack club. His lifetime hobby and professional love was photography. For 20 years, he was known as the ?Picture Man? at Pugh Bourne Park in Madison County with estimates of photographingover 75,000 kids over the years. He was the photographer for the University ofTennessee Lacrosse team and enjoyed taking action photos of his son Joe. He alsoenjoyed taking photos of his son John skateboarding. Glen was a funny man, alwayshumorous, and making others laugh. He enjoyed life, laughter and love very much.Services for Mr. Weatherly will be held on Wednesday, March 2 at 2:00 p.m. at NorthSide United Methodist Church and will be officiated Dr. Don Thrasher. Eulogistsfor the service will be Randy Carson of Maryville, TN and Betty Blythe of New Bern,N.C. A visitation with the family will be at Northside United Methodist Church onTuesday, March 1, 5:00 ? 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, March 2, 1:00- 2:00 p.m.prior to the service.In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations be sent to NorthSide United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society ( www.cancer.org/involve/donate/ ) or the V Foundation for Cancer Research ( www.jimmyv.org).The family wishes to convey their gratitude to the staff of Asera Care Hospice inJackson. Special thanks to the following individuals: Shelley Attaway, Becky Chilcutt, Nancy Utley, Debra Winfield, Misti Garner, Lashinda Blackwell, and Dana Nichols.The family also wishes to thank Dr. Archie Wright and his staff at the Cancer CareCenter.
