Gerald Douglass Maroney

Gerald D. Maroney died peacefully at his Madison County residence on Monday, August 1, 2022, at the age of 74.
The youngest of nine children, he was born in Jackson, TN on March 6, 1948, the son of the late Print and Rubie Olena McKinnie Maroney. Gerald married Delores Kay Maroney who preceded him in death on September 30, 2012. A 1966 graduate of Southside High School, he was the owner and operator of Medon Appliance Repair for over forty years. He was a member of Oakfield Baptist Church, where he had served as a trustee and greeter.
Gerald enjoyed his yard and spending time caring for it. He loved to read, especially western books by the famed authors, Walt Whitman and Louis L’Amour. He had a collection of Hardy Boys mystery books and had seen every John Wayne movie. He loved his fur babies, Leroy Jethro Gibbs, who was waiting for him in heaven, and Mr. Bojangles, who survives him.
He is survived by his daughter, Stacy L. Marbury and husband Tim of Lawrenceburg, TN; his son, James “Jim” D. Maroney of Huron, TN; his brother, Henry Maroney and his wife Linda of Bartlett, TN and his sister, Sue Norment of Cutler Bay, FL; five grandchildren, Sean, Kyle, Kaylee, Jordan, and Kaleesi Maroney, and one great-grandchild, Jay Maroney.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Ellis, Boyd, Harold, Troy and Benny Maroney and a sister O’Shanniar Hamilton.
SERVICES: A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 6, 2022, in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors, with Rev. Mickey Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Springs Cemetery.
The family will be receiving friends on Friday, August 5, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday, August 6, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. until service time.
