Fred Bean

Freddie “Fred” Royce Bean, age 81, died early Saturday morning February 27, 2021 at
Jackson-Madison County General Hospital after a short illness.
He was born in Starkville, Mississippi on June 20, 1939, the son of the late Fred Otis Bean and Amretta Fondren Bean. Fred graduated from West Point High School, Mississippi State University and Lexington Theological Seminary. He served as a minister with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and as an Ombudsman for West Tennessee Legal Services. He loved relaxing and watching the birds in his back yard from his screened in porch, researching genealogy, and football, especially the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
He was preceded in death by one brother Jimmy Bean. Survivors are his wife Babs Trogden Bean of Jackson, Tennessee; sons Alan Bean and Craig Wood (Kristin), both of Nashville, Tennessee; daughters Cindy Roberson (Brad) of Jackson, Tennessee and Wendy Wood Pine (Jim) of Nashville; brother Jerry Bean (Karen) of Amarillo, Texas; sister Sarah McGee (Charlie) of New Augusta, Mississippi; sister in law Dianne Bean of Memphis, Tennessee and brother in law Don Trogden of Jacksonville, Florida; seven grandchildren Taylor Bean, Jacob Roberson (Brittany), Hope Roberson, Kristi Szycowski (Adrian), Leona Liana Wood, Liam Wood, and Steve Pine; two great grandchildren; many loved nieces and nephews; and two great-grandchildren.
SERVICES: Funeral services will be held Tuesday March 2, 2021 at 11:00AM in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors with Dr. Barry Scott and Deacons from Central Avenue Christian Church officiating. Visitation with family and friends will be from 10:00AM until funeral time at 11:00AM. Burial will follow in Ridgecrest Cemetery. The service will be webcast via arringtonfuneralgroup.com.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial contributions be directed to Regional Intra-Faith Association (RIFA) rifajackson.org , P.O. Box 2301 Jackson, TN 38302 or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
