Rev. David Shettles

Rev. David Shettles, 59, died on Tuesday, February 11, 2014, at Regional Hospital of Jackson.
A native of Memphis, TN, he was born on October 22, 1954, the son of the late A.D. and Mary Robbins Shettles. David spent most of his life heavily involved with the Boy Scouts of America, starting as a youth and continuing until his health no longer allowed his involvement. Highlights of his time with the Scouts included working as a professional scout executive and serving on the National Council of the Order of the Arrow. He received his Eagle Award as a youth and the Distinguished Service Award as an adult. Upon receiving his call into the ministry, David served United Methodist churches in the West Tennessee area from 1987 through 2001.
David was an adoring husband and loving father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife Jennifer Brann Shettles of Jackson, TN; a son, SSG Jason David Shettles of El Paso, TX; a daughter, Lindsey Shettles Mitchell (Gary) of Waynesboro, TN; two grandchildren, Mallory and Daniel Mitchell of Waynesboro, TN; a brother, Chris A. Shettles of Memphis, TN; and his mother- and father-in-law, Wanda and James Brann of Jackson, TN.
SERVICES: A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, February 14, 2014, at Aldersgate United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Ridgecrest Cemetery. The family will receive friends and family on Thursday, February 13, 2014, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Arrington Funeral Directors and on Friday, February 14, 2014, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Aldersgate UMC.
Pallbearers will be Jason Shettles, Chris Shettles, Dr. David Larsen, Dr. Robert Hopper, Trice Caughron, Jason Cole and Gary Mitchell.
