Clarence Brewer

Clarence Alfred Brewer, ?Cab?, passed away on early Tuesday morning, May 17, at the age of 93. He was born August 5, 1917 in Chandler, Oklahoma. Since December of 2008, Cab was blessed by cheerful, competent and gracious care from the assisted living staff at Jackson Oaks. Cab graduated from Central State College in Edmond, OK in 1939. After teaching business in high school for a short time, he went to work for the U. S. Department of Agriculture in 1940. During his career in personnel management, he worked in Washington, D.C. for thirty-three years and Cincinnati, OH for two years. He retired from the USDA in 1975, returning to Edmond, OK. Mr. Brewer was a member of the North Jackson Church of Christ, although his health did not allow him to be very active. He served as an elder of the Southeast congregation in Washington, D.C. and the Waterloo Road congregation in Edmond, OK. He was an active contributor and sponsor of the Wha t Does the Bible Say television program which was broadcast in Washington, D.C. Cab is survived by his wife, Marvel M. Shorter Brewer, in the Jackson Oaks Assisted Living facility in Jackson, TN; his son, Ronald C. Brewer and his wife Diane of Jackson, TN; his daughter, Shirley A. Brewer Yancey of Ponca City, OK; his son, Wayne L. Brewer and his Neftal of Redding, CA; his son, Kim A. ?Kab? Brewer and his wife Glenda of Enid, OK; his grandchildren, Daniel Brewer and his wife Holly of Columbus, OH, Christopher Brewer and Clint Yancey; his great grandchildren, Danielle Brewer and Chase Brewer and his brother, Eugene Brewer of Manchester, CT. Mr. Brewer was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Rose Brewer; his brother, Edward Brewer; and his sisters, Vivian Rose Brewer, Bertha Dean and Ruby Williams. Funeral and visitation arrangements will be at Arrington Funeral Directors, 148 West University Parkway, Jackson, TN 38305 (731) 668-1111 on Saturday afternoon, May 21, 2011. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM followed immediately at 2:00 PM by a memorial service. Interment will be private in Chandler, OK.
