Funeral services for Brother Wayne Chester, 79, will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, April 21, 2012 at Lighthouse United Pentecostal Church. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum at Highland Memorial Gardens. Brother Chester born in Benton County, Tennessee on October 9, 1932, and passed from this life on April 16, 2012. Arrington Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.He is survived by his wife of forty-nine years, Carolyn Sue Chester; daughter, Sonna Lariece Reid and son-in-law Tim Reid and grandson, Tyler Reid; a daughter, Tami Reid and son-in-law Norman Reid and grandsons Justin Reid and Matthew Reid; a sister, Mary Dean Wright and three nieces Barbara Deaton, Bonnie Phifer and Ruth Ann Nunnery.He was preceded in death by his father, Houston Chester and mother Geraldene Chester Lewis and a half brother Jerry Wilburn Lewis.Brother Chester graduated from Central High School in Camden, Tennessee where he received a full athletic scholarship to play basketball for Bethel College. While there he served as captain of the basketball team his senior year and made the all conference team his senior year. While at Bethel he was selected for?Who?s who in Colleges and Universities.? Upon his graduation from college he taught and coached basketball at Bell City, Missouri. He then was chosen to teach and coach basketball at Camden Central High School. He also served as principal of Big Sandy School for nine years.He then was called into the ministry and after attending Western Apostolic Bible College for two years returned back to Tennessee where he was chosen to serve as pastor of the Fairview Pentecostal Church, The Bruceton United Pentecostal Church and then later as pastor of the First UPC of Camden where he served for nine years. He was elected to serve the Tennessee District as Secretary-Treasurer of the United Pentecostal Church for fifteen years. At the retirement of Rev. L. H. Benson as Superintendent of the Tennessee District he was elected to serve as Superintendent of the Tennessee District United Pentecostal Church, an office that he held until his retirement ten years later. During his tenure as Secretary and Superintendent he had served as Interim pastor at eighteen churches.The family will be receiving friends on Friday, April 20, 2012 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Lighthouse United Pentecostal Church, 1435 Old Humboldt Road and again on Saturday from 10:00 AM until Service time at the church.Arrington Funeral Directors, 148 W.
