Billy Ray Cannedy, 82, died on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at the Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
Bill was born in Gould, OK on May 7, 1932, the son of the late Ray B. and Lela J. Smith Cannedy. He served is country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He held a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture Agronomy and was retired from Chevron Chemical Company as a Marketing Representative. Bill enjoyed the outdoors as an avid hunter, horseman and camping with his family until his health declined. He was known as one of the kindest and encouraging persons to his family and friends. He was a member of Campbell Street Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife Nancy A. Cannedy of Jackson, TN; three children, Barry S. Cannedy and his fiancée Anita of Humboldt, TN, Jeffery K. Cannedy of Tomball, TX and Andrea L. Pugh and husband Lowell of Nashville, TN; grandchildren, Hiedi Nicole Wahlquist and husband Michael of Conroe, TX, Jared K. Cannedy of Tomball, TX, Joshua D. Cannedy and wife Luvianca of Hawaii, Hannah B. Cannedy of Spring, TX, Rachel C. Pugh Powell and husband Jordan of Nashville, TN and Kevin S. Pugh and wife Brittney of Tulsa, OK; great-grandchildren, London Ema Wahlquist, Mica Behr Wahlquist and Elijah Branch Wahlquist all of Conroe, TX; daughter in law, Brenda Cannedy of Spring, TX; a niece, Carol Cannedy Dalby and husband John of Texarkana, AR and a long time caregiver, Tracy Banks and her husband Scott of Medina, TN.
SERVICES: A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, August 16, 2014 at Campbell Street Church of Christ. The family will be receiving friends on Friday, August 15, 2014 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Arrington Funeral Directors and on Saturday, August 16, 204 at Campbell Street Church of Christ from 12:00 PM until the service time.
Family members serving as pallbearers will be Kevin Pugh, Jared Cannedy, Joshua Cannedy. Jordan Powell, Lowell Pugh and Michael Wahlquist.
Honorary pallbearers will be his small group, Dr. and Mrs. Ralph Johnson, Dr. and Mrs. Jim Humphreys, Mr. and Mrs. Tony Wood, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Pipkin, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Brown and Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Wall.
The family is requesting that memorial contributions be directed to Jackson Christian 832 Country Club Lane, Jackson, TN 38305.
