Margaret Frances Wise

Margaret Frances McSwain Wise, 84, passed away Wednesday September 30, 2015 at Jackson General Hospital. She was born October 10, 1930 in Memphis, TN, the daughter of the late Luther Elvis McSwain and Ruby Hooper McSwain. She attended Lambuth College and graduated from Memphis State University, completing large amounts of coursework in music and business. Mrs. Wise was a gifted musician, particularly in piano. She also taught piano and is a retired teacher in the Jackson Madison Co. School System, teaching over 2 decades. She was active in the Symphony League and other community organizations. She was a devout Christian who was very family centered, and she loved nature.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Dr. Merrill S. Wise Jr.; a son, Dr. Merrill S. Wise III of Germantown, TN; a daughter, Cynthia Margaret Cook Clark of Jackson, TN; five grandchildren, Collin Wise, Grant Wise, Laura Grace Wise, John Merrill Cook and Eileen Cook and one great grandchild, Luca Plakas Wise.
SERVICES: Funeral services for Mrs. Wise will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, October 4, 2015 at Forest Heights United Methodist Church with Rev. Harrell Nation Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgecrest Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:30 PM until 3:00 PM at the church. The family requests that memorials be sent to Forest Heights United Methodist Church.
