Johnny T. Reynolds, age 68, died on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at the Regional Medical Center in Memphis, TN.
Johnny was born on March 29, 1947, the son of the late Thurman and Eleanor Glines Reynolds. He attended Lambuth College where he was a member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity before transferring to Memphis State University where he received his bachelor and master’s degrees. He had held various positions with the Jackson Madison County School System retiring as Principal of Liberty Technology High School in 2008. Johnny was known throughout the area for his musical talents as a singer and song writer. His love for music lead him to serve as the song leader at Maple Springs Cumberland Presbyterian Church and previously as a member of the Northside United Methodist praise band. Johnny loved to laugh and have fun. Family was so important to him, as he loved them unconditionally. He was full of love and life and had a unique way of always being able to provide positive affirmation to his family, friends, co-workers and students.
He is survived by his wife of nineteen years, Ruth Willoughby Reynolds, of Beech Bluff, TN; his children, Marcy Moon (Brad) of Union City, TN, Jennifer Cavitt (Jathaniel) of Bartlett, TN, Lora Goad (Brandon) of Knoxville, TN, Ruth Ann Baty (David) of McEwen, TN and Eddie Lee Herndon (Erin) of Clarksville, AR; his sister, Cindy Medlin of Collierville, TN; a niece, Julie Crenshaw (Jason) of Collierville, TN and fifteen grandchildren.
SERVICES: A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Northside United Methodist Church with Dr. Don Thrasher officiating. Burial will follow in the Maple Springs Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
The family will be receiving friends on Friday, February 19, 2016 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Arrington Funeral Directors.
Pallbearers will be Bart Barker, Wayne Alexander, Flipper Burks, J.C. Moore, Dexter Williams and Eric Jones.
Honorary pallbearers are the members of the Liberty Technology High School State Champion Basketball team and are asked to sit together as a team.
Memorial contributions are requested to be directed to the Maple Springs Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 2005 Beech Bluff Road, Beech Bluff, TN 38313.
