Rev. John B. Mccommon, Sr.

Rev. John B. McCommon, Sr., age 83, died on Friday, February 5, 2016 at Maplewood Healthcare Center of Jackson, TN.
John was born in Saulsbury, TN on February 10, 1932, the son of the late LeRoy Samuel and Ida LoreneMercer McCommon. He was a veteran of the United State Army, serving in the Korean Conflict. He was a graduate of the Southern Seminary and pastored many churches in the area including, Erin Baptist Church in Houston Co, Pleasant Plains Baptist of Jackson, Friendship Baptist and Johnson Grove Baptist Churches in Crockett County and Eagle Creek Baptist in Benton, Co. Over the years he was active in various civic clubs including the Lion’s Club, the Rotary Club and the Civitan Club. Printing was his hobby, and for over twenty-five years in the Jackson area, he was the owner and operator of Copies Plus Printing Company. He was a member of the Church in the Village.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Dorothy Simpson McCommon of Jackson, TN; a son, John B. McCommon, Jr and his wife Brenda of Jackson, TN; a brother, Hubert McCommon and his wife Kathryn of Memphis, TN and three grandchildren, Alex, Nick and Kate McCommon.
SERVICES: A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Sunday, February 7, 2016 in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors with Rev. Bill Williamson officiating. Burial will follow in West Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery in Hardeman County, TN with a committal service at 3:30 PM. The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 6, 2016 from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM and on Sunday, February 7, 2016 from 12:00 PM until the service time at Arrington Funeral Directors.
The family is requesting that memorial contributions be directed to the Church in the Village.
