James C. Strickland, age 72, died on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at the Regional Hospital of Jackson.
James was born on January 12, 1942 in Savannah, GA, the son of the late Jack and Maxine Lane Strickland.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy and had been employed as an insurance adjustor with various companies during his career. He was Methodist in his belief. He loved watching his sons play baseball in their earlier years and was very involved in collecting family history and family genealogy. His grandchildren were his pride and joy the past several years and he loved being with them.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine E. Strickland of Jackson, TN; two sons, Michael Strickland and wife Jessica of Medina, TN and Robert Strickland and wife Sonya of Jackson, TN and two daughters, Jamie Johnson and her fiancée Justin Austin of Jackson and Hannah Strickland of Jackson, TN; three brothers, William Strickland of Scottsdale, AZ, Robert Strickland and wife Janice of Clay City, KY and Michael Strickland and wife Dr. Linda Bailey of Louisville, KY and four grandchildren, Ethan, Dylan, Jackson and Tenley Grace Strickland and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Elena Austin and two sisters, Patricia Lane Perkins and Sherry Strickland.
SERVICE: A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, August 10, 2014 in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors with Rev. Travis Penney officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgecrest Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends on Saturday, August 9, 2014 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and on Sunday, August 10, 2014 from 2:00 PM until service time at Arrington Funeral Directors.
