Jack Williamson

Jack Williamson, 88, of Jackson, Tennessee, passed away in his home on October 6, 2014. He was born May 14, 1926, in Cambria, Illinois, and was the son of Marceline and Rex Williamson.
Jack was married to Willette Brownley in November 1950. She preceded him in death in 1986. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Lenora Jean Smith, in 2011.
Jack is survived by his three sons, Michael Williamson and wife, Joy, of Texas; Jeffrey Williamson and wife, Cherry Gray, of Georgia; and Mark Williamson and wife, Dawn, of Indiana. He is also survived by his grandchildren Eric Williamson and wife, Dawn; and Brian Williamson of Texas; Russell Williamson and wife, Ashley, of Indiana; and Cherry Anna Williamson of Georgia. Great-grandchildren include Aiden and Annalise Williamson of Indiana. Other survivors include his Aunt Jeanetta Russell and Uncle William Penrod of Illinois. He enjoyed spending time with his family, boating, golf, bridge, the Masonic and Elks Lodge. He attended Presbyterian Church while he lived in Indiana and Methodist Church later when he moved to Tennessee.
He was married to Peggy Welshans in May 1990; he is survived by her. His step-children include Cathy Rankin and husband, Sterling; Cindy Holt and husband, Tim; Wilson Welshans and wife, Jill; and Vanessa Welshans, all of Tennessee. Grandchildren include Aron and Chloe Cantor; Dayne, Tom, Audrey Jo and Nick Welshans of Tennessee.
Jack left his graduating class in Princeton, Indiana to join the U.S. Navy and serve in the Philippines during WW II. Upon return, he entered college in Flint, Michigan, but was chosen by IBM to join their company, where he remained as a computer manager/programmer until 1986.
After retirement and remarriage he moved to Hendersonville, TN. He attended the United Methodist Church and acted as treasurer in establishing a new church in Hendersonville. He also built a house on the lake to enjoy with his family. His focus then shifted to golf.
Jack and Peggy moved to Jackson, TN in 1997. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at the Arrington Funeral Home in Jackson, Tennessee on Thursday, October 9th. Visitation is from 2 p.m.to 3 p.m. The service is at 3 p.m. Any memorials should be forwarded to The Salvation Army, St. Jude, and Parkinson's Disease Foundation.
