GENE JOHNSTONE

Gene Johnstone, 79 of Germantown, TN and Nokomis, FL died April 8, 2017.
Gene was born to D.D. and Bessie Johnstone March 15, 1938 in Jackson, TN. He graduated from Northside High School and attended The University of Southern Mississippi and Lambuth University.

After moving to Memphis, he worked many years in sales. In the late 1960's he built Rolling Acres Mobile Estates in Jackson which he sold in 2016. Gene enjoyed golf, boating and NASCAR. He spent many years boating on Pickwick Lake with family and friends. After many years at Pickwick his love for boating led him to a winter home in Nokomis, FL where he continued to enjoy golf and new friends. He truly loved travel and seeing and enjoying the word with his wife Janie.

Over the years, Gene had many great friendships but his love for family was most important to him. Gene was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was extremely proud of his grandsons and loved them dearly.

He is survived by his wife Janie Daniel Johnstone. He is also survived by his only child
Tonya Johnstone Cook (Robert) of Germantown, TN and his beloved grandsons Taylor Alexander Cook (Shelby) of Memphis, TN and Dalton Christopher Cook of Germantown, TN.

SERVICES: A funeral service will be held 12:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 12, 2017 in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors with Chaplain Chas Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Jackson, TN.

The family will be receiving friends from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. Wednesday April 12, 2017 prior the funeral service.

The family requests in lieu of flowers any memorials be made to St. Jude or Memphis Area Golden Retriever Rescue, PO Box 383122, Germantown, TN 38183.
