Carol Leathers Dyer, 61, died early Saturday morning March 12, 2016 at Maplewood Healthcare. She was surrounded by loving family members.
Carol was born September 25, 1954. She is one of four daughters of the late Theo and Agnes Leathers. She was a loving wife, mother and sister, and a dear friend to many. Carol had a warm, caring style that made her a ‘second mom’ to several. Her outgoing and friendly personality was enjoyed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Following high school, Carol attended Jackson State Community College and Union University, obtaining her degree from Union in 2002. She focused on her family and was a stay-at-home mom for several years. Afterwards, she developed a successful marketing and sales career. Carol was a member of Lambuth Memorial Methodist Church, and also attended West Jackson Baptist Church with her parents and sister.
Carol had many hobbies. She loved sports and played on several volleyball and softball teams. Carol also enjoyed cooking, gardening, and traveling to new and different places.
Carol is survived by her husband Jimmy Dyer of Beech Bluff, TN, two sons Jon Russell Acuff and wife Rachel of Murfreesboro, TN, Andrew Leathers Acuff, of Nashville, TN, one daughter, Leah Acuff White and husband Patrick of Murfreesboro, TN, three sisters, Lisa White of Jackson, TN, Ava Johnsey of Midland, MI, Sharon Butler of Lathrop, MO, four grandchildren, William Acuff, Benjamin Acuff, Theo White and Russell White.
SERVICES: The family will be receiving friends Monday evening from 4:00PM until 6:00PM. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at 2:00PM in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors with Rev. Gary Morse officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgecrest Cemetery.
Those serving as pallbearers will be Ben Johnsey, Jon Acuff, Andy Acuff, Patrick White, Phillip Evans and Jim Dunn.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be directed to Alzheimer’s Association, 713 S. Mendenhall, Memphis, TN, 38117.
