Bonnie Henry Collins Jr.

October 5, 1934 — February 6, 2016

Bonnie Henry Collins, Jr., 81, passed away Saturday, February 6 at Maplewood Healthcare. He was born October 5, 1934 in Jeffersonville, AR the son of the late Bonnie H. Collins Sr. and Ella Ree Harris Collins.
He is survived by a daughter, Lisa Collins and grandson, Colin McPeak of Jackson, TN; a sister Lolo Earleen Johnson and her late husband James, of Richmond, VA; two brothers, Milton Collins and his wife Mary Jane of Cookeville, TN; and Frank Collins and his wife Pat of Pinehurst, N.C.
Bonnie was preceded in death by his wife, Celia Willard Collins; a daughter, Carla McPeak and two brothers, J.L. and Arlen.
Bonnie was raised in West Helena, AR and graduated from Central High School where he excelled in athletics…and pursuit of Celia to become his wife. Following graduation, he became co-owner of Plaza Grocery in West Helena; served as a volunteer fireman, head of the Junior Chamber of Commerce and Arkansas Nation Guard as Captain of the 82nd Artillery Battalion. Later he had a successful career with MFA Insurance in Illinois and Minnesota. Jackson residents will remember him as an agent with Town and Country Real Estate. Bonnie was able to fill a room with his fun loving and outgoing personality. He loved “country” and entertained his VFW friends and family with his version of George Jones’ top hits.
SERVICES: Memorial services for Mr. Collins will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, February 13, 2016 at Arrington Funeral Directors with Rev. Fred Thompson officiating.
