Bob Pipkin, age 85, died on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at his Jackson, TN residence.
Bob was born in Toone, TN on November 26, 1930, the son of the late Lenard and Amy Mitchell Pipkin. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving 2 years on Okinawa during the Korean War. He received a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee at Martin and had held positions with Quaker Oats and Martha White as a Food Service Sanitarian before starting his own consulting company from 1992 until his retirement in 2002. He was a member of Campbell Street Church of Christ serving for 32 years as an Elder. He was a former board member of Jackson Christian School serving for twenty-three years.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, June Warren Pipkin of Jackson, TN; three daughters, Pamela Skelton and husband Curtis of Fayetteville, AR, Amy Groves and husband Keith of Jackson, TN and Jeanne Chester and husband Eddy of Memphis, TN; ten grandchildren, Wesley, Robert, Philip and Alex Groves, Clint, William and Bethany Skelton, Allie, John, and Sam Chester and three great grandchildren, Sawyer, Maddux and Camden Groves. He is also survived by one sister, Mary Lee Corum and husband Grover of Auburn, KY. and preceded in death by one brother Joe L. Pipkin.
SERVICES: A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, May 6, 2016 at Campbell Street Church of Christ with ministers Danny Sorrell and Ray Hawk and son-in-law Keith Groves officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens.
The family will be receiving friends on Friday, May 6, 2016 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Campbell Street Church of Christ.
Pallbearers will be Bob’s grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers will be present and past Elders of Campbell Street Church of Christ, and golfing buddies Dr. Ralph Johnson, Gary Hall, Jim Morgan and Terry Meyers.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorial contributions be directed to Jackson Christian, 832 Country Club Lane, Jackson, TN 38305, the Nicaragua Christian School, 1490 Campbell Street, Jackson, TN 38305 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
