Bertie Elaine Smith, age 69, died on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at the Regional One Extended Care Facility in Memphis, TN.
She was born on August 29, 1946 in Greensboro, NC the daughter of the late Alvis Calvin and Edna Earl McFarland Talton. She was married to Clarence “Rooster” Smith who preceded her in death in 2000. She was retired from Wal-Mart. She attended Next Level Church and was also a member of Angels in the Outfield.
She is survived by her children, Edna Moore and fiancé Elfego Torres, Debbie King and husband Tony King, Jeff Smith and wife Patricia Smith, Darlene Jordan and husband Jimmy Jordan, Jr. and Deanna Fitzgerald and husband Shane Fitzgerald; twelve grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a brother James Talton, a sister, Judy Reynolds and a grandson, Jonathon Fitzgerald.
Her last words were “I love all my children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. I hope I will see you all in heaven someday. Please love and hold on to each other and pray, pray, pray – Live for God.”
SERVICES: A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, July 1, 2016 in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors with Rev. Kenneth Kitchen and Rev. Nick O’Shields officiating. Burial will follow in Vernon Cemetery in Hardeman County.
The family will be receiving friends on Thursday, July 30, 2016 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Arrington Funeral Directors.
Pallbearers will be Elfego Torres, Scotty Middleton, Tony King, Jimmy Jordan, Shane Fitzgerald, Daniel Smith, David Smith and Mike Woods.
