Amy Lyn Blackwell Newsom

March 18, 1979 — April 12, 2014

Amy Lyn Blackwell Newsom was taken suddenly and unexpectedly to heaven on April 12, 2014 at JMCGH in Jackson, TN.
She had been born in that same hospital 35 years ago to parents, Ben Blackwell and Melanie Counce Blackwell and her big brother, Ben. She attended Jackson City Schools, but graduated with a degree in Nursing from Jackson State in 2007 with a degree in Nursing. Except for her two boys, that was one of her proudest achievements. As an outstanding operating room nurse, she touched so many patients with her compassion and absolute patient advocacy. Hearts were her favorite. She practiced at JMCGH and East Carolina Heart Institute, Greenville, NC.
The loves of her life were her sons, Noah (14) and CJ (2 ½). Noah was her musician, scholar, comedian, and fast friend. CJ was her “miracle baby” who runs and jumps because she went through the unbelievable physical and emotional trauma of fetal surgery to give him that chance. She touched the lives of so many families and sick children while at Ronald McDonald House in Cincinnati, OH, while waiting for CJ to be born.
A loving Mother, Daughter, Sister, Nurse and Friend to all who needed her. She left this world knowing she was loved beyond measure. A heart too tender, gone too soon. Always a smile.
She was preceded in death by: her paternal Grandparents, E.V. and Louisa Blackwell of Mobile, AL, her maternal Grandfather, Roy M. Counce, of Jackson, TN, aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous friends.
She leaves behind her Sons, Noah and CJ, Jackson, TN, Father and Step-Mother, Ben and Jamie Blackwell , Humboldt, TN, her Mother, Melanie Counce Blackwell, Jackson, TN, her brother, Ben Blackwell, Hendersonville, TN, Noah’s Dad, Derek Newsom, Beech Bluff, TN and CJ’s Dad, Chuck Darling, Jackson, TN, her maternal Grandmother, Irene Counce, Humboldt, TN. She is also survived by loving uncles, aunts, cousins, colleagues and friends including her beloved dogs, Dixie and Lizzie.
